Things To Do

For such a small Island (166 sq. miles) Barbados offers a plethora of things to do to suit all ages and all levels of activity.

LOCAL

The house is located in Mount Standfast on a ridge overlooking Alleynes Bay. A quiet road leads down to the beach – ring ahead from the house and our friend Rico will have your sunbeds set out for you at the waters edge just along from JuJu’s beach bar where you can get everything from local Banks Beer to a traditional Rum Punch. They serve fabulous food all day.

If you fancy a change there are several other bars – walk along the golden sands to Top Deck, Glitter Bay or Lonestar… the perfect setting for sundowners.

Rico can organise all manor of watersports including jet ski-ing, water ski-ing, paddle boarding or simply take your snorkel and explore the reefs just off the beach.

SIGHTSEEING

Car Hire isn’t essential if your holiday is purely for relaxation and beach based activities but it is recommended if you want to see the real beauty of Barbados and its people.

Each coast offers its own attractions.

North Point – where the wild waves of the Atlantic collide with the warm Caribbean Sea. Visit the Animal Flower Cave and stay for lunch – if you’re lucky you might spot the humpback whales.

East Coast – with its dramatic, rugged coastline and quaint hilltop villages. Drive up through Cherry Tree Hill and as you reach the summit you will encounter one of Barbados’ most beautiful vistas. Follow the coastal road and stop off for lunch at Bathsheba.. watch the surfers at the legendary Soup Bowl.

South Coast – vibrant St Lawrence Gap with its bars and restaurants or Oistins for the Friday night fish fry.
West Coast – (nicknamed the Platinum Coast) is home to some of the best beaches on the Island where luxury hotels and villas mingle with local rum shacks and beach bars.

The Island has so much to offer its visitors:

Museums and historic plantation houses, churches, wildlife reserves, collections of indigenous and exotic flowers and plants and of course the majestic underwater world (nobody should leave the Island without having swam with the turtles- truly magical). Rum was born in Barbados so there are various rum tours- and tastings-to enjoy.

Perhaps the greatest memories visitors take away from Barbados are those they stumble upon rather than seek out:

The elderly ladies dressed in suits and hats for Saturday’s church service.
The schoolchildren heading home in colourful uniforms and pristine white shirts.
The overloaded “reggae buses” pulsating with people and pounding rhythms.

When you book NO1 I always ensure we discuss in detail your holiday requirements so I am then able to recommend tours, restaurants, beaches etc to meet your specific needs.
